Time for Your Spectacular Sweater Success

A few days ago I posted my fall sweater design round up. Now that we’re all in the mood to start knitting sweaters again, let’s talk how!

Sweater Knitting Class

In a few weeks I’ll launch my brand new sweater class at Vogue Knitting LIVE, “Secrets to Spectacular Sweater Success!”

I’ve been knitting up swatches like a mad woman to get ready for this “all things sweater” class.  It will be an overview of the most important things that can make or break a sweater. From the Vogue Knitting Live website:

There are so many ways your sweater can go wrong but even more ways it can go sooo right. In this “all things sweater” over view class will cover some of the most important things you need to know, as well as a host of fantastic hands on knitting tips (truth there’s way more than seven!) to get you to your perfect sweater.
After an exploration of fiber choice, we will look at swatching best practices and the reasons we swatch that go far beyond gauge. We will also take a peek into the pattern to see what it will and won’t tell us. Next we will delve into specific knitting techniques to discover a host of “the pattern never told you that” knitting refinements; from better cast ons, use of short rows and sloped bind offs, ways to improve the look of your shaping, rib and over all fabric as well as a few fantastic bind offs.
Finally we’ll address some finishing issues that plague many a knitter, when we explore the best practice for picking up stitches, (including the oh so tricky button band on a v neck trauma) as well as the best way to set in a sleeve! Discover the (more than) seven secrets and make this the year of your perfect sweater!

Here’s your sneak peek at some of the swatches from the class and just a FEW things you’ll learn. We will also go into shoulder shaping tricks, what to do about the dreaded row gauge, how to pick your correct size and soooo much more.

I hope you’ll join me, it’s gonna be sweatertastic!
