Labadee Cowl KAL PRIZES: And the Winners Are . . .
Another video KAL comes to an end (but this time I’m not sooo sad because the Roselle Tee KAL just went on sale)!! I can’t believe more than 900 people joined in on the fun of knitting this cowl. Some knit it now, while others will cast on later!
Through it all, the help and support of every knitter on the Ravelry group was always there. Over 3,900 amazing knitters helped each other and cheered each other on through every step of the way.
Haven’t joined us yet? If you are feeling inspired to try it, Labadee Cowl pattern comes with hours of video tutorials, all the gauge option and knitting how-tos for only will be $10.00!! It’s never too late to jump into any video class, as the videos (embedded in the pattern) never expire, and the message boards stay live forever.
Now it’s time to discuss…
Announcing 4 Grand Prize Winners for this Knit-Along
This time around, we had four grand prize winners including a brand new category for Instagram (Come on over and follow the fun at @pattyjlyons!). There was one randomly drawn winner from each category.
1) Finished Cowl: Ravelry user troubleclef
I randomly drew one person whose cowl is finished, and troubleclef won! She responded, “Thank you so much. The biggest prize was working on this marvelously beautiful cowl where I learned so many things and received so many compliments. Your pattern was a real winner.”
And here’s what she wrote about her KAL experience:
“The best thing I learned was how to read charts. Now I won’t be afraid of following them in other patterns. The videos that are included are also extremely helpful.“
Here’s her PRIZE!!
- Pattern Wallet and other goodies from Slipped Stitch Studio
- Needles From Nirvana Knitting Needles
- Knitter’s Buddy Notion Pouch from Namaste
- Fix it tool from Fix-A- Stitch
- As well as a few goodies from my stash!
2) Better Late Then Never – WIP Prize: Ravelry user Whiskeyteacup
WIPs (that’s works-in-progress) happen to all of us, but it’s about the journey not the destination, so I wanted to reward
those that started…but haven’t finished (yet).
She responded, “I never dreamed I would actually win and when I saw my name last night I was beside myself with excitement!!!! Still can’t believe it!! My prize package is simply amazing!!! What a lucky girl I am. I am more inspired than ever to continue to pursue my journey of becoming an accomplished knitter. Knitting and crocheting is an incredible stress reliever for my hectic lifestyle and I feel blessed by receiving this amazing incentive. Thank you so very much!!!”
And here’s what she wrote about her KAL experience:
“I am super proud of what I have been able to learn and accomplish!!! My sister is an incredible knitter and she asked me if I wanted to do this with her. I was hesitant but said okay. I nearly started crying when I got the first clue…I did not think there was any way I could do this…but I persevered and am very proud of all I have learned!!! I think the coolest thing is the I cord and how to knit in the tails…oh and reading a chart!! We are signing up for the next one…the sweater … and my girlfriend is joining us.”
I can’t wait to see your finished cowl. It will happen in no time!!
Here’s her PRIZE!!
- Knitter’s case from Namaste
- Yarn sampler bag and notebook from Rowan
- Needle gauge pendant from Debra’s Garden
- Yarn from Willow Yarns
- As well as a variety of goodies from my stash!
3) “The Best Thing I Learned in Patty Lyons’ KAL”: Ravelry user SusanWatkins
I asked participants to share the best thing they learned during through this process. Susan wrote on her project page:
“I can’t thank Patty enough for her “Improve Your Knitting” class, which is available to purchase directly from her. I struggled mightily with my gauge on this project, and she recommended her class so I could learn to “size my stitches”. I knit the first three sections of the cowl prior to watching her videos. I then knit the 4th section after … and wow! The difference is noticeable. Had I known at the beginning what I know now, perhaps I would have hit gauge and not had to alter my stitch counts!! The “Improve Your Knitting” class has permanently changed how I knit, and I’m thrilled..”
Here’s her PRIZE!!
- Knitting bag from CocoKnits
- Notions from CocoKnits
- Stitch markers from Heidi and Lana
- Needles from Prym
- As well as a variety of goodies from my stash!
1) Instagram Prize
And finally, the randomly chosen winner for the Instagram prize is Instagram user makinglifecount (also her Ravelry name).
She said:
“Oh my goodness! I am so excited to have won a prize! Thank you!!!!! Finishing the KAL and having a beautiful cowl is a huge prize itself. This is icing on the cake.”
Here’s what she wrote about her KAL experience on Instagram:
“Just finished up this cowl. Great video support from the designer. #labadeekal #instalabadee @pattyjlyons“
Here’s her PRIZE!!
- Shawl kit from Magpie Fibers
- Stitch marker necklace from Magpie Fibers
- As well as a variety of goodies from my stash!
