Palm Canyon Video KAL (Knit-Along)

IT’S OUR 11th VIDEO KAL!!!

I am so excited to start another KAL on my Ravelry group. It’s spring time, so I wanted to create a fun knit that teaches some brand new tricks.

Palm Canyon is a bottom up, integrated sleeve top, and it’s REVERSIBLE!! That’s right, between Roselle and Volition, I got kind of attached to options.

Join now! The pattern AND full video sweater class is only $10 during the KAL, AND get another 10% off coupon code when you join my newsletter by March 16. That’s 50% off!!

Welcome to Palm Canyon Video KAL – Wear it TWO Ways!!

This sweater will come with tons of options. Not only is it reversible, not only does it come with two yarn options, but there are two decorative seaming options, and with sweater modifications, knitting how-to’s and hours of videos you will be able to make many sweaters from this one class.

I will also give neckline options so you can make your own version of the two way sweater. V neck / crew neck, scoop neck / boat neck . . . you decide!

There will also be a pattern for a mini sweater, so you can keep that swatch going all through the class to practice each new technique before you approach your sweater.

Again, the pattern AND full video sweater class is only $10 during the KAL, PLUS get another 10% off when join my newsletter. That’s a total of 50% off!

After June 1 the Video sweater class versions (with all the how tos, video tutorials, and modification notes) will be $18. So get it during the KAL, knit it now or later and SAVE!

FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions

What is a KAL?
KAL stands for knit-along! It’s a great way to work through a garment with the support of the designer (me), but more importantly, hundreds of other knitters.

If you are new to KALs, find helpful FAQ on the general info page.

The heart of the KAL is our Ravelry group. There we will have updates, discussions, sharing of pictures, and knitting tips.

The pattern will come out in parts to help us all stay together and have fun!

How can I join?
Simply by purchasing the Palm Canyon KAL pattern…from my Ravelry page. On sale on March 15.

BUY PATTERN

You can join in ANYTIME! The KAL info will stay live on my group forever, and the video tutorial links will never expire! But the KAL class price goes up to $18 after June 1, so join now even if you aren’t going to work the sweater class until later.

Where do we get our yarn AND support our hard working designer?

For this sweater, I’ve chosen TWO yarns!! One is Tahki Stacey Charles Nina. A lighter then air chainette linen, cotton blend. This one is pure drape! Perfect for a spring / summer look. You can also make it out of the luscious Valley Northfield. A super soft merino, alpaca, and silk blend. This will make a slightly heavier fabric perfect for those transitional seasons like, spring and fall.

To help you choice I made a video about picking your size and your yarn. The full video is in your pattern intro download, but here’s a sneak peek.

ORDER YOUR YARN

Use the above link for ordering! Get a 20% – 25% discount for purchases over $60. Be sure to add a couple of balls to your order so you have enough for swatching, or pattern modifications. It’s such a good deal, you might just want to get enough for both yarns!!

I will be teaching options to change the body length, neck depth and even sleeve length.

What skills will I learn?
The class is chocked FULL of techniques. There will be video tutorials on all specialty skills along with sweater basics. New skills learned:

  • My unvented sloped cable cast on (with an extra credit trick
  • German Short Rows
  • Two crazy cool neck line divides (with NO need to pick up stitches later!)
  • Russian Graft decorative seam
  • Visible 3 Needle Bind Off decorative seam
  • Pattern mapping
  • Slipped Stitch Rib
  • How to adjust pattern for gauge
  • Length, neck and sleeve variations
  • One move SSK
  • Left lifted and right lifted increase
  • and MORE!

There will also be videos that cover all your sweater basics like gauge, blocking, cast on, seaming and more.

Where are the videos?
With every section of the pattern released to your Ravelry library, you will see red links in the PDF directly to the video tutorials to help you every step of the way. The links will be right there in the pattern!

Your initial downloaded Intro PDF will contain the pattern introduction with gauge, schematic, size information, yarn requirements and needle and notion information. It will also include a video on gauge swatching, special gauge cast on, how to pick your size, and a gauge tutorial.

KAL Schedule:

March 15 the KAL goes on sale. You will receive your pattern introduction and first video tutorials as soon as you purchase your pattern. Start swatching so you are ready to cast on April 12 when the first pattern part is released.

    What level of knitter should you be to enjoy this KAL? I’m all for learning new skills, but I am an intermediate knitter at best and don’t want to be traumatized by a project. :-}
