OUR BIGGEST VIDEO KAL YET!!

I am so excited to start another KAL on my Ravelry group. After Volition, the video sweater class that could be a cardigan or a pullover, I decided to kick it up a notch. Welcome to the entire family of sweaters!

Affiknity is an adult unisex sweater that comes in 12 sizes and features a pullover AND cardigan.

Affiknity Jr is the adorable kid’s version of the cardigan and pullover that comes in 4 sizes.

This will be part KAL, part video sweater class, and all FUN! With sweater modifications, knitting how-to’s and hours of videos you will be able to make many sweaters from this one class.

Cast on now, in Dec or even in Jan. There will be social knit groups for the new knitters who join us each month!!

Join now! Get Affiknity, Affiknity Jr, or bundle them and get Affiknity Family!

During the KAL save $8 on either of the patterns OR bundle them and save $19!

FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions

What is a KAL?
KAL stands for knit-along! It’s a great way to work through a garment with the support of the designer (me), but more importantly, hundreds of other knitters.

If you are new to KALs, find helpful FAQ on the general info page.

The heart of the KAL is our Ravelry group. There we will have updates, discussions, sharing of pictures, and knitting tips.

The pattern will come out in parts to help us all stay together and have fun!

How can I join?
Simply by purchasing one of the Affiknity family pattern…from my website.

Store FAQ

You can join in ANYTIME! The KAL info will stay live on my group forever, and the video tutorial links will never expire! But the KAL class price goes up to full price after Jan 24, so join now even if you aren’t going to work the sweater class until later.

Where do we get our yarn AND support our hard working designer?

For this sweater, I’ve chosen TWO yarns!! One is Tahki Stacey Charles Manchester. A super soft alpaca / wool blend the has amazing drape. For a classic wool cable sweater, we have Valley Northampton, a wonderful 100% wool yarn that comes in a ton of colors.

When you purchase your pattern, you will get your introduction that will include a video on choosing your yarn and size.

ORDER YOUR YARN

Please only use the above link for ordering! Get a 20% – 25% discount for purchases over $60. Be sure to add a couple of balls to your order so you have enough for swatching, or pattern modifications. It’s such a good deal, you might just want to get enough for both yarns!!

What skills will I learn?
The class is chocked FULL of techniques. There will be video tutorials on all specialty skills along with sweater basics. New skills learned:

  • My unvented hidden pocket (with no hole!)
  • German Short Rows
  • My unvented buttonhole (for the cardi)
  • Saddle shoulder
  • Cable tips and tricks
  • Pattern mapping
  • Fixing mistakes in cables
  • How to adjust pattern for gauge
  • Length variations
  • One move SSK
  • Left lifted and right lifted increase
  • and MORE!

There will also be videos that cover all your sweater basics like gauge, blocking, cast on, seaming and more.

Where are the videos?
With every section of the pattern released to your Ravelry library, you will see red links in the PDF directly to the video tutorials to help you every step of the way. The links will be right there in the pattern!

Your initial downloaded Intro PDF will contain the pattern introduction with gauge, schematic, size information, yarn requirements and needle and notion information. It will also include a video on gauge swatching, special gauge cast on, how to pick your size, yarn choices and a gauge tutorial.

KAL Schedule:

Affiknity Video KAL

As soon as you purchase your pattern you will get your pattern introduction and videos on sizing, yarn selection and gauge, as well as your schematic and material information, so plenty of time to order your yarn, pick your size and start your swatching.

Since you have SO many options, this KAL will work a bit differently the traditional schedule of “clues”. You will receive the whole pattern at once and people will be joining in all during the KAL.

Some folks might start in November, others may start in Dec or Jan

To keep the fun of us all working together, the videos and tutorials will come out on a schedule, and there will be live knit groups on Zoom in Nov, Dec and Jan, so join us when you’re ready!

You’ll get a mini swatch pattern to help you practice as the pattern progresses. There will also be tutorials and videos on how the pattern works to help you plan

  • Nov 1: Cable chart / practice pattern, cable videos and sweater mod tutorials
