It’s time for the spring knit-along!!! I am so excited to start another KAL on my Ravelry group. There will be tons of teaching and fun, prizes and a great garment! This garment, the Roselle Tee, is totally reversible so it’s like getting TWO tops for the price of one (actually three, but more on that in a second).
As always, there will be HOURS of video tutorials, and modification documents to help you every step of the way.
After May 20the KAL – sweater class versions (with all the how tos, video tutorials, and modification notes) will be $16. So get it now, knit it now or later and SAVE!
I have written about gauge many times. I think about gauge, I teach gauge, I believe in gauge.
Right now nearly 900 knitters are knitting up the Labadee Cowl and have found out how a tiny difference in a gauge swatch can domino into a cowl that’s way too big. Good news is I updated the pattern for THREE different gauges so if you don’t match the pattern gauge you can cast on few stitches and even eliminate a repeat here and there and get your dream cowl!
Next week hundreds of knitters will start swatching for the Roselle Tee Video KAL, so I thought this was a great time for a round up of . . .
I will never forget the day I got the call, the call from herself. There are some fashion icons so famous, so immortal, they only need one name, and their association with their designers have made the designer’s name immortal too. Audrey and Givenchy, Jackie and Oleg Cassini, Cher and Bob Mackie. Would it be possible? Could it be possible? Dolores and Patty.
Just then I got a text. She’ll be in New York next week. She’ll be coming by my studio to get started. At this point I had to put my head between my knees and breathe into a paperbag. It was my turn to design for Dolores.
As many of you might know, in my former life, I was a stage manager. Back in my theater days, I worked with all types of talent that were knitters to the core. Since in theater, there’s a lot of “hurry up and wait”, having your knitting with you in rehearsal or even backstage can be a sanity saver. So it’s no surprise to me that a lot of our Hollywood favorites are a part of our club, especially since knitting in itself, is another form of creative expression. To celebrate our love of crafting, creativity, and community, let’s take a look at 5 celebrities that knit.
We are getting closer to casting on for the Labadee Cowl KAL. It’s our 7th KAL and already we have nearly 600 knitters signed up! I am floored and honored that over 2800 knitters have participated in the last 6 KALs.
I missed writing this one for Thanksgiving (as I did a few years ago), and this year I’m less interested in end of year resolutions as focusing on gratitude.
I’m grateful for so many things, for all of you first of all. The year has not been perfect, at times is was hard, at times wonderful. But through it all there was always yarn, knitting, sheep, friends, and all of you.
You asked for it, and you got it. I am so excited to start my very first accessory KAL on my Ravelry group. There will be tons of teaching and fun, prizes and a lovely cowl. During the KAL registration period you get the full video cowl for just $1 over the price of a regular pattern!!! There will be video tutorials to help you every step of the way.
As knitters, we often gift our own knitting masterpieces, but what do you gift to a fellow knitter? We are in the mist of the holiday season, and it’s time to think about what gifts we will be giving to our friends and family members who love to knit (and what gifts we will be secretly hoping we get!) Here are 10 phenomenal suggestions for loved ones that are passionate about knitting.
I know, I know. Your mind is probably filled with projects to knit and craft for your loved ones. But isn’t it just as important to think about good gift ideas that THEY can put on their shopping list for you? Or better yet, perhaps you should put something on your own list as a reward for a job well done in 2018. If you’re looking for a truly spectacular gift for yourself (or your fellow knitter), then keep reading, because I think I know what should be on your list.
The Importance of Yarn
If “clothes make the man (or woman),” then surely “yarn makes the sweater.”
There are times when the silhouette of a design comes first and then I go hunting for a yarn, and then there are the times when a special yarn is the start of my design. The moment I saw (and felt) Anzula’s For Better or Worsted I knew it would be the perfect yarn for my first (drum roll please) custom dyed SWEATER KIT!!!
