As many of you might know, in my former life, I was a stage manager. Back in my theater days, I worked with all types of talent that were knitters to the core. Since in theater, there’s a lot of “hurry up and wait”, having your knitting with you in rehearsal or even backstage can be a sanity saver. So it’s no surprise to me that a lot of our Hollywood favorites are a part of our club, especially since knitting in itself, is another form of creative expression. To celebrate our love of crafting, creativity, and community, let’s take a look at 5 celebrities that knit.
We are getting closer to casting on for the Labadee Cowl KAL. It’s our 7th KAL and already we have nearly 600 knitters signed up! I am floored and honored that over 2800 knitters have participated in the last 6 KALs.
We rolled out badges for the knitters who were in two or more of my previous KALs (Corcoran KAL, Tortola KAL,Soho Slip Stitch KAL, Rising Spades KAL and Costa Maya KAL, and Harbor Springs) And now . . . (drum roll please) If you’ve done all of my KALs, then help yourself to the…
I’m grateful for so many things, for all of you first of all. The year has not been perfect, at times is was hard, at times wonderful. But through it all there was always yarn, knitting, sheep, friends, and all of you.

I love i-cord! Jetson features a two color i-cord bind off and my own trick for making it neat and clean with no color bleed.
An i-cord can also be made from picked up stitches. In this month’s Tuesday Tip we learn how to build a better i-cord.
Enjoy this quick video tutorial and never suffer from color bleed again!
It happens to all of us, we aim to finish our holiday knitting by the new year, and before you know it we have 2 weeks left! Never fear, I have you covered.
Here are 10 knitting patterns that are very quick knits, just in time for the fast approaching holidays, AND a 25% off coupon code as my holiday gift to you.
Let’s Get Knitting!
Last week I wrote about the importance of yarn and treating yourself to a truly special yarn and many of you jumped at the chance to get this luxury sweater kit for yourselves.
Now is your chance to order your own. Supplies are limited and since all the yarn is hand dyed to order by the artists at Anzula, the faster you place your order, the faster you get your yarn.
You’ll get the yarn at a great discount, the pattern at 1/2 price, and a free glove pattern to go with it! Don’t miss out!
As knitters, we often gift our own knitting masterpieces, but what do you gift to a fellow knitter? We are in the mist of the holiday season, and it’s time to think about what gifts we will be giving to our friends and family members who love to knit (and what gifts we will be secretly hoping we get!) Here are 10 phenomenal suggestions for loved ones that are passionate about knitting.
I know, I know. Your mind is probably filled with projects to knit and craft for your loved ones. But isn’t it just as important to think about good gift ideas that THEY can put on their shopping list for you? Or better yet, perhaps you should put something on your own list as a reward for a job well done in 2018. If you’re looking for a truly spectacular gift for yourself (or your fellow knitter), then keep reading, because I think I know what should be on your list.
The Importance of Yarn
If “clothes make the man (or woman),” then surely “yarn makes the sweater.”
There are times when the silhouette of a design comes first and then I go hunting for a yarn, and then there are the times when a special yarn is the start of my design. The moment I saw (and felt) Anzula’s For Better or Worsted I knew it would be the perfect yarn for my first (drum roll please) custom dyed SWEATER KIT!!!
Congratulations to all of the knitters who have finished their Harbor Springs Sweaters so far—and for those of you that are still working on them, take it at your own pace! Your fellow knitters and I can’t wait to see your results. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and the KAL materials stay live on Ravelry forever, so keep at it!
If you haven’t already checked out the amazing finished projects in our Ravelry Group, I highly recommend scrolling through them for inspiration.
Haven’t joined us yet? There’s still time!
Along the way, participants have learned a TON. Here are just a couple of the best lessons or skills learned that our knitters shared.
Another Video KAL comes to an end and as always, I was amazed by the talented knitters! Over 525 knitters joined in and the results have been truly amazing. Harbor Springs was a result of requests for a looser fitting raglan pullover. I wrote about understanding ease, and checked in on how things were going after Clue #1, and now The KAL winners have been chosen and awarded!
If you are feeling inspired to try it, Harbor Springs + pattern comes with over 4 hours of video tutorials, all the sweater modifications and knitting how tos for only will be $15.00!!
Through it all, the help and support of every knitter on the Ravelry group was always there. Over 2900 amazing knitters let every first time sweater knitter know . . . they were not alone!
Now it’s time to discuss
