I miss being in a classroom with you in person, but I'm soooo happy that I've been able to teach more than ever since March. I've also been blown away by how many of you have taken the time in these past 8 months to write to me about your triumphs. Thank you all sooo much.⁠⠀

WAY up high on my gratitude list are my friends. I

WAY up high on my gratitude list are my friends. I have two dear friends that I met over a dozen years ago. Over the years our little group has grown as two fabulous men have entered the scene. ⁠⠀
⁠⠀
Four months ago I was thrilled to attend the first of two weddings in our little group. Today is the second. It's true that both of my friends has imagined very different weddings. Neither planned on having most of their friends and family attend on Zoom, and only a handful of masked and socially distanced friends in attendance, but life does not stop. Love can't be stopped. I'm so honored to be there today. ⁠⠀

Next year we'll all be together at the house, going to Rhinebeck, going on hikes, enjoying dinners out. It will happen. To being together again.⁠⠀

This might be a hard day for some. Like many, I have chosen not to travel, not to see my family, but it's not forever. We make these sacrifices to keep our family safe, to help stop this virus, but it's not forever. We have a new President who believes in science and it feels like this is the end of the beginning, that the sun is setting on a terrible time in the world, and in our country, like joy might be around the corner. ⠀
⁠⠀
This is not be the year for getting everything we want, but it IS the year to be grateful for everything we have.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
I am so grateful for so many things. I'm grateful that I can get outside and be in nature. Here's a few shots I've taken in the past few weeks. I hope you all get to focus on things to be grateful for. I will spend the next few days here exploring gratitude.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
If you are struggling and you can't quite access gratitude right now, that's okay. Remember, there's no guilt in that. It's okay not to be okay.⁠⠀

This Thanksgiving is not the one we've hoped for.

This Thanksgiving is not the one we've hoped for. For most of us, it will not involve sitting at a table with family that we look forward to seeing all year. For many this year has been hard, it has been painful, it has been full of loss, despair and we still have a ways to go.⁠

But there are things we can still be grateful for. We're still here. We still have fight left in us. ⁠
⁠
