For most of my life, organization has not been just a helper, it’s been a necessity. My careers in both theater and LYS management demanded first-rate organization techniques, and I’m grateful for the lifetime of practice. Now that I’m self-employed, if I didn’t have all the systems in place that I do I’m sure I’d be tearing my hair out at the roots trying to stay on top of it all. So I deeply appreciate when something makes organizing my life a bit easier, and that brings me to my deep love of Ravelry. When Rav hit the scene in 2007 it was a game-changer. I don’t have to tell most of you how amazing it’s been to have a readily accessible community of fiber enthusiasts to chat with, bounce ideas off, and project stalk. But the clever folks at Ravelry have never stopped working and improving the site and it gets better every year! Today I want to talk about some of my favorite features that make my knitting life just a little less tangled. (GET IT?!)
On Jan 23 registration opened for the Tortola KAL – Sweater class. In the following weeks our ranks quickly grew to over 300 knitters working on their gauge swatch! On Feb 20 clue #1 for the Tortola KAL Sweater class came out and we are now 365 knitters strong, with new knitters joining us everyday!
Monday our first, of many, participation prizes got awarded!
Knitters who join us before April 24 will still get 25 video tutorials (over 3 hours of filmed sweater instruction), all the sweater modifications and knitting how tos for just the price of the Tortola pattern – $8.00!! Let’s see how everyone’s doing.
Tortola KAL update
Six weeks ago over 140 knitters cast on for their gauge swatches and began the Corcoran KAL. Over the weeks to follow our ranks more than doubled (and continues to grow every day), and now over 360 knitters received the final clue. Last week I showed off some of the sweaters in progress.
Through 8/15 you can still get the Corcoran KAL files + pattern (all 2 hours of video tutorials, all the sweater modifications and knitting how tos) for only the price of the pattern – $7.00. After 8/15 to get the class version, it will be $12, and the pattern only will be $7.00.
Through it all, the help and support of every knitter on the Ravelry group was always there. Over 1600 questions and answers on our message boards let every first time sweater knitter know . . . they were not alone! Now it’s time to discuss
Corcoran KAL Final PRIZES!!!
That makes for two weeks full of yarn, friends, classes, amazing students, and this year . . . a killer cold that knocked me on my &%$#. The fact that 13 days later I’m still sick, might explain why this blog took so long to write.
